Have you ever struggled with moving into something new because you didn’t know what would happen?

It can be scary to move into new territory where you don’t know what is going to happen next. Sometimes, it seems to make better sense just to stay put instead of trusting that God will take care of the details.

In this episode, Anna struggles with looking around and freaking out about the specifics of the wedding instead of knowing that all we can do in tough situations is do our best, and then leave the rest up to Jesus.

This sounds a lot like Peter in Matthew 14. In this chapter, Jesus walks to his disciples on the water. When Peter sees him coming to them, he asks Jesus if he can go to him. All right, come, he says in Matthew 14:29. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But then something happened. When he looked around at the high waves, he was terrified and began to sink. Peter sank because he took his eyes off of Jesus, and started looking around at the wind and the waves.

Do you think Peter would have sunk if he had kept his eyes on Jesus? Peter started to get scared when he began to think about what he was actually doing. He might have let himself think, “Wait a minute, what am I doing? People don’t walk on water!” The truth of the matter is when we believe in Christ, we can do anything he wants us to do— including walk on water.

So don’t be scared of what will happen. God has you. Isaiah 41:10 says, Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

So the next time something hard comes up in your life, don’t doubt like Peter in the Bible or Anna in this episode, but let yourself move forward while walking hand-in-hand with the Creator of the Universe, knowing that he will take care of you.
